The tower sits on an altitude of 800 meters, between the villages Platanaki and Saint Basil. It was possibly built in the 15th century by the Byzantines, taking its name from the small, abandoned monastery of Panagia of Zoodochos Pigi. The structure is a three story building of a total height of 20 meters, equipped with crenellations for defence.

Today, it is in a somewhat good condition. Entrance is free but access to the tower's inside is impossible.
